Nuong Faalong Defends Corruption Investigations: “Accountability Matters”

Journalist and activist Nuong Faalong has backed the government’s decision to investigate and prosecute alleged corruption cases from the past administration, insisting that accountability cannot be ignored.

Speaking on the issue, she described corruption under the previous government as “obscene”, stressing that evidence continues to emerge.

“You can’t just tell the government to ignore financial crimes and move on. If a nation is bleeding, you stop the bleeding—but you also find out what caused it,” she said.

She dismissed claims that there’s no proof of wrongdoing, arguing that ongoing legal action is justified. “Maybe no court has ruled yet, but the facts are there, and the courts will decide soon,” she added.

Faalong also emphasized the importance of public transparency, pointing out that past corruption cases, like Ato Forson’s trial, were widely covered, so current cases should be no different.

She praised the Attorney General for handling cases professionally and dismissed allegations of a political witch-hunt.

“If you claim to be innocent, you have nothing to fear. The facts will come out, and the court will decide,” she concluded.
