Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang Makes History as First Female Chairperson of Ghana Armed Forces Council
Ghana’s Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has officially been sworn in as the first-ever female Chairperson of the Ghana Armed Forces Council, marking a historic milestone in the country’s governance and military oversight.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Monday, March 24, 2025, at the Presidency, where she, along with other newly appointed members of the council, took the oath of office.
Joining her on the council are Edward Kofi Omane Boamah,
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, Daniel Addo, Fuseini Iddrisu, and Nancy Dakwa Ampofo, all of whom were also sworn in during the event.
The Ghana Armed Forces Council plays a critical role in overseeing military operations, shaping defense policies, and providing strategic advisory support to the government on national security matters.
