Hypocrisy is killing Christianity – Broda Sammy

Renowned Ghanaian gospel artist, Broda Sammy, has sparked a major debate within the Christian community by criticizing rampant hypocrisy and outdated traditions that, in his view, are making Christianity less appealing.

Christianity Needs Modernization

Speaking on the Asetena Pa show with Akoto Mansa, the outspoken musician stressed the urgent need for dynamism and modernization in Christianity to attract more believers.
“Christianity is losing its appeal because of hypocrisy. We need to adapt to the times and make the faith more welcoming,” he asserted.
He condemned the double standards of some Christians who criticize women for wearing trousers in Ghana, yet abandon these same principles when they travel abroad.
“They preach against trousers here in Ghana but wear them without hesitation when they go abroad. That is pure hypocrisy,” he pointed out.

Lack of Unity in the Gospel Industry

Broda Sammy also shed light on the deep divisions within the gospel music industry, stating that stereotypes and selective alliances have hindered unity among gospel musicians.
“There is no unity in the gospel industry. Instead of supporting each other, we allow division to dictate our actions,” he lamented.

Would He Collaborate with Diana Hamilton or Kofi Owusu Peprah?

When asked about working with Diana Hamilton or Kofi Owusu Peprah, he made it clear that he wouldn’t approach them first but would collaborate if they reached out.
“If they come to me, why not? But I won’t be the one to go to them first,” he stated firmly.
He further accused some gospel musicians of practicing selective friendships, claiming that artists who speak English fluently are often favored over those who don’t.
“Once you start speaking English, they suddenly become your friend. That’s the sad reality of the industry,” he remarked.

Broda Sammy’s Secret Past as a Football Star

In an unexpected revelation, Broda Sammy disclosed that before his rise in the gospel music industry, he was a talented footballer and even captained Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
“People used to call me Sammy Tuga because of my football skills. I was a captain for Kotoko,” he shared.

A Call for Change in the Christian Community

Broda Sammy’s bold statements have reignited discussions on hypocrisy in Christianity, unity in the gospel industry, and the need for a more inclusive faith. His revelations challenge Christians, musicians, and church leaders to reflect on whether their actions truly align with their beliefs. SOURCE : RAYSOFHOPERADIO.COM
